Freida Pinto Invited to vote at the Oscars !

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is the world’s pre-eminent movie-related organisation, which also conducts the Oscars, wants Freida Pinto to be part of their empaneled members. The actor joins the roster along with Canadian actor Rachel McAdams, director Patty Jenkins, British actor-musician Idris Elba, Chinese-American producer James Hong, and a few rising stars such as Michael B Jordan, Chadwick Boseman and the Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) actor John Boyega.

A source close to Freida says, “She is the youngest Indian to be given this honour. This is an expression of acknowledgment of her work internationally, and also the social work she does for the empowerment and education of girls.”

When contacted, Freida says, “I am excited to be invited to The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. I am looking forward to the responsibilities and duties I will have as a member of the organisation. Voting for deserving and diverse talent will be an honour.”

Apart from Freida, two other artistes of Indian origin, who have been invited to join the organisation, include veteran actor Sharmila Tagore and Indo-Canadian film director Deepa Mehta.
